10th LFF: the world is closer, the institutions always more far away
Great satisfaction for the results achieved, for the plaudit of the audience, of the economic and cultural operators, but also a bit of bitterness. This is the synthesis of the first impression at the end of the 10th edition of the Lucania Film Festival, ended yesterday in Rione Terravecchia in Pisticci. The satisfaction is for the good quality of the films and the live shows, and also for the participation of the audience. There were almost 3000 people each night to attend the screenings and the concerts, and almost the double in the Festival’s areas, also from very long distances and abroad.
As the Joker, the king of diamonds in Naples cards and main player in graphic communication of this year, the Lucania Film Festival has been the winner card in Basilicata summer, confirming itself as one of the most important cultural event of the region. Lucania Film Festival let became the city of Pisticci the regional capital of Cinema and culture and this night, the last night of the kermesse, there will be the ceremony for the prize giving to winner movies of International/Fiction, International/Animation and Lucania Film Makers sections. Members of the jury are Gennaro Vallifuoco, Filippo Solibello, Declan Hannigan, Emanuela Mascherini, Torfinn Iversen and Erminia Pinto.
TILT is the name of the new project centre of the third day of the Lucania Film Festival. TILT is an acronym for “Torna In Lucania Team”, which means “Come Back To Lucania Team”, and it has a double meaning in Italian: “to go haywire”. From this year it supports all the initiatives of the Festival at national level. The project realized by the Allelammie association and selected by the Basilicata Region for “Visioni Urbane” is, at the same time, an appeal and an appointment for all the people who left for choose or duty had to leave Basilicata looking for more luck. TILT is a sort of bridge through the elements of the territory, of the Lucania identity, and the possibility of creation of a cultural industry and tourism. The desire is to unhinge the common idea that nothing is possible here in Basilicata and to stop to wait for someone else to change the things.
Since yesterday and up to August the 10th, film directors, professionals and fans are coming in Basilicata from Italy and several other countries such as Belgium, Norway, Israel, Romania, Ireland and Singapore. During 4 days, the little town of Pisticci becomes the Lucany’s capital of cinema: a melting pot of international experiences, languages and different cultures.
Wide audience for beautiful films and Baccini's concert
Luchino Visconti in the 1959 took photographs of Pisticci Dirupo and probably he didn’t think at cinema as something close to this place. Instead 50 years later through the same streets thousands of people would been watching the screenings of a festival of cinema. A 10 years old festival. The Lucania Film festival has been able to create a unique format, as other similar events, but refreshed by a strong dose of hospitality and the slow, typical Southern sense of time, where popular celebrations, charm, creativity and high level shows are all mixed together.
During the 10th edition of the Lucania Film Festival Casa della Cultura (the House of Culture) and Allelammie’s home will host the main exposition of the painter Mario Terso, disappeared last year. Mario Terso has been one of the founders of the Allelammie, he dedicated his work and his life to cultural and ecological problems of his territory, he founded the first WWF cometee in Pisticci. He was an eclectic artist from sculpture to painting, from photography to literature and producing lyrics for popular music. In his works we can find suggestions of other cultures, from South America, Africa and Eastern countries, as well as the strong attention to the wild natural world. His works are strictly tied with his life and his attention to the social problems.
Few hours are missing for the 10th birthday of the Lucania Film Festival: this year the opening event has taken place in the new hangar of the Pisticci Scalo airport , Friday 7th of August. The location has been chosen to underline the strong international vocation and in the same moment to confirm the chance given to the territory, in order to jump put of its borders.

The administrative office of Allelammie informs that the application announcement for the partecipation at the 10th edition of the Lucania Film Festival, addressed to all independent filmmakers from all over the world, is open. The rules and the application modes are online. The participation is free of charge. The international sections of the competition are: Fiction - Animation - Cinergia (all the genres that concern the sustainable energies) - Lucania Film Makers (just for local directors or foreign directors born in Lucania). The deadline is fixed on the 2nd of May 2009 while te publication of the finalist works will be on the 5th of June 2009. The Festival lasts from 10th to 13th August 2009 in Pisticci, Matera (Italy). During the next weeks the first artistical choices regarding the international jury, the events, the projects and the special guests of the Lucania Film Festival 10th edition will be published.

LFF investigates on the perception of the others
There are only three weeks at the beginning of the ninth edition of Lucania Film Festival, which will be held in Pisticci, from 10 to 13 August. After long months of preparation, the last details have been defined, the team is complete and is ready to start that path which will reach the highest apex in the four days of the most important festival of short films in the whole south of Italy. An appointment which since 9 years doesn’t want to involve only the local reality, but also an international reality. The LFF, in fact, with 58 entered countries and all five continents represented, is going to collect half the global annual production of short films, making it one of the most important festival in Europe.
