Biografia / Biography
Hana Makhmalbaf, nata il 3 dicembre 1988 a Teheran, ha recitato nel film di suo padre Mohsen Makhmalbaf, “A Moment of Innocence”, all’età di 7 anni. Ha studiato cinema alla Makhmalbaf Film School. All’età di 8 anni ha realizzato il suo primo cortometraggio, “The Day My Aunt Was Ill”, che ha ricevuto consenso internazionale al Locarno Film Festival nel 1997. A 14 anni, ha girato un documentario intitolato “Joy of Madness” in Afghanistan. Questo film è stato presentato in anteprima al Festival di Venezia del 2003 e ha ricevuto 3 premi internazionali. A 18 anni, ha realizzato il suo primo lungometraggio “Buddha Collapsed Out Of Shame” a Bamian, in Afghanistan. Il film ha ricevuto un enorme consenso in tutto il mondo, ricevendo molti premi prestigiosi, tra cui: “Crystal Bear” e Special “Peace Award” al Festival di Berlino 2008, “Grand Jury Award” al Festival di San Sebastián 2007. “Buddha Collapsed Out Of Shame” è stato distribuito in 60 cinema in Francia, 40 cinema in Spagna e 20 cinema in Giappone. Il film più recente di Hana, “Green Days”, riguarda gli avvenimenti durante le elezioni presidenziali del 2009 in Iran. Il film è stato selezionato al Festival di Venezia e ha ricevuto il “Bravery Award”. “Visa For A Moment” è il titolo del libro di poesie di Hana, pubblicato in tre lingue diverse nel 2003.

Hana Makhmalbaf, born on December 3, 1988, in Tehran, acted in her father Mohsen Makhmalbaf’s film “A Moment of Innocence” at age 7. She studied cinema at Makhmalbaf Film School for 8 years, graduating at 16. At age 8, she made her first short film, “The Day My Aunt Was Ill,” which received international attention at Locarno Film Festival in 1997. At 14, she directed “Joy of Madness” in Afghanistan, which premiered at Venice Film Festival in 2003 and won three international awards. Her first feature film, “Buddha Collapsed Out of Shame,” made at age 18, The film went to receive enormous reception around the world receiving many prestigious awards including: “Crystal Bear” from Berlin Film Festival 2008, Special “Peace Award” Berlin Film Festival 2008, “Grand Jury Award” San Sebastian Film Festival 2007. Hana made a docufiction film, “Green Days,” about the 2009 Iranian presidential election, which was selected for the Venice Film Festival and won the “Bravery Award.” She published her book of poetry, “Visa for One Moment,” in 2003.
